The primary role of the Vice-President, Sales & Marketing is to provide strategic and operational leadership within the sales, business development, marketing, and product development areas through the implementation and achievement of the company?s strategic plan. This is achieved through the development and execution of long-term and annual business operational plans that deliver on strategic objectives, financial goals (most critical is the achievement of sales revenue goals), and ensuring the alignment of the company?s future, proposed, and current product lines with organization strategies and goals. The Vice-President provides leadership and direction of all aspects of the company?s sales operations in a manner that keeps VNI at or above industry standards, delivers on organizational measures and goals, and maximizes the level of operational and financial performance.

As a member of the executive team, the position contributes to the leadership and safety of all staff in a manner that creates engagement and productivity within VNI. The secondary role of the Vice-President is to develop and implement plans, projects, initiatives, and relationships that positively influence the revenues, profitability, and growth of the company. As a key member of the organization?s executive team, the Vice-President works collaboratively with members of the senior leadership team and all functional areas within the organization. The Vice-President will have interaction with the Board of Directors.

  • Senior level experience including 7+ years of progressively more responsible sales/marketing      leadership and management experience within a similar industry I.E. food; agri-food; human nutritional (FOS/prebiotics); infant formula; animal feed; nutraceutical sectors.  Experience/background as a specialty ingredient supplier (dairy, plants, grains) to national/international markets with demanding technical specifications is a plus.
  • Must be able to operate in an entrepreneurial organization without the support [management hierarchy / bureaucracy] typical in large, multi-national corporations.
  • High understanding of how marketing, business development, product pricing, and sales contribute to company profitability. Strong quantitative approach to marketing and sales.
  • Understanding of global market opportunities/trends for specialty segment with demanding technical      specifications (prebiotic/probiotic; nutrition/gut health; food ingredients). Professional sales and business development skills, especially in developing new markets. Marketing B to B preferred.
  • Understands process of new product development into technically sophisticated markets. Preference for previous experience overseeing research & development functional area.
  • MBA or relevant post-secondary  degree I.E. Undergraduate degree in Science, Business, Marketing.      Specialized training/education in marketing and sales.
  • Recognized as a well-respected, trusted senior manager. Highly visible as leader internal to organization.
  • Strong people orientation. Capability to work with internal departments, external partners, and diverse personalities in a manner that promotes positive relationships. Builds a high-performance culture within the sales team.
  • Deep knowledge of ERP/MRP systems as well as Microsoft Office products including expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Navision knowledge a plus.
  • Working knowledge of other language would be a plus. I.E. Spanish, French.
  • This position could be located in a remote location and visit home office (Abbotsford B.C.) on a regular basis. Must be able to travel frequently and internationally.
