General Manager - Vanderpol Enterprises

Vitalus Nutrition Inc.

Vanderpol Enterprises Inc. (VEI) is seeking a part-time General Manager who will be responsible for the overall general management of the company including property management, financial management, shareholder (Board relations), and real estate investment. This is an interesting opportunity for a business professional seeking a part-time position - maybe someone currently providing similar contract services to other companies, a business owner/consultant in the similar field, or a "young" retiree who doesn't want to totally retire from the business world. However you must be available to dedicate your attention to VEI business needs and continue providing management services into the forseeable future.

Working closely with the Board Chair, the GM will be responsible for the following:

  1. Property Management: Manage real estate operations including lease administration; tenant relations; monitoring property maintenance; cost allocations to tenants.
  2. Financial Management: Set and monitor annual budgets; oversee monthly financial reporting; financial forecasts; bank relations; tax compliance/audits; annual reporting
  3. Board/Shareholder Relations: In co-operation with the Chair, coordinate Board meetings including agendas, meetings, minutes, and follow-up on decisions/actions identified; quarterly Board reporting on business/financial performance; Board Governance
  4. Real Estate Investment: Provide insight into potential future real estate investments; maintain awareness of industrial real estate rental markets.

We invite applications from individuals with previous non-profit or association management experience, commercial real estate background in a financial organization, business consulting, and/or property management experience interested in a part-time contract position comprising <50% full time equivalency. Experience working with a Board of Directors, Board governance, multiple shareholders within a family-owned enterprise, financial management, and property management are preferred. Applicants must have integrity, be objective versus subjective when dealing with issues, have an understanding of family dynamics within a business setting, be solution focused versus fault finding when dealing with problems, and willing to share their business experience with shareholders. They should also be collaborative and open when working with the Board Chair.
