Salary range: $17 - $18 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications

Beaches Co-operative Playschool (BCP)
BCP is a non-profit, community centered, parent-run co-operative. The primary purpose of the playschool is to provide a safe, stimulating learning environment that respects the close parent/child bond. The children are able to learn through play as they are offered a wide variety of age-appropriate stimulating opportunities with each child free to develop at their own pace.

This job is perfect for someone who is looking for more experience and is keen to learn. While this is a part-time position for afternoons only, there will be opportunities to work morning overtime shifts from time to time.
RECE Playschool Teacher Role
The teacher is a Registered Early Childhood Educator responsible for assisting in program development for the afternoon Kindergarten Prep class, with students ranging in age from 3.5years to 5 years.
The teacher supports the schools Supervising Teacher, as well as an executive board made up of parent volunteers.
Program and Hours:
Kindergarten Prep (3 years to 5 years)
Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. (Program runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
Education and Certificates Required
Early Childhood Education Diploma, Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
Clear Medical assessment and TB Test
Valid Police Reference and Vulnerable Sector Check
Valid Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR-Level 3 (16 hour course)
Valid Safe Food Handler certificate
An understanding of Ontario child care legislation and standards, including the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014 and Toronto Public Health and Licensing Regulation.
3 years experience preferred

Strong programming skills and familiar with ELECT principle and "How Does Learning Happen" - Ontario Pedagogy Learning
Excellent behaviour management skills, including problem solving, positive reinforcement and redirection strategies, implemented in a gentle and caring manner.
The ability to plan and implement a well-rounded program that meets the needs of the children and their families
Strong interpersonal skills and good English verbal communication skills
Ability to take initiative
Job Description and Responsibilities
Planning and implementing programs for children ages 3 - 5 years, both independently and as part of the team, and in keeping with the philosophy of the school
Program planning to include circle time, theme activities, rotation of toy, sensory bin preparation, craft/art activity, tactile/gross motor activity
Set up equipment daily- indoor and outdoor, based on a weekly curriculum, goals and themes
Interact with children to provide support and care; positively reinforce behavior and encourage interaction between children
Maintain a nurturing relationship with each child
Work with School Supervisor, parents/volunteers, and support staff to promote BCP philosophy of learning
Record daily attendance and sign out children to their guardians at the end of day
Record and manage incident reports and behavioral reports as required
Supervise outdoor play
Assist in monthly fire drills as per center specification
Provide School Supervisor and Parent Liaison with observations and feedback to assist in student reports
Assist in annual set up and take down of program, including cleaning and organizing to maintain Public Health Requirement.
Maintain BCP equipment
Maintain health and safety requirements as per BCP policies and procedures and know the serious occurrence procedures
Participate in General Meetings
Participate in Open Houses and Registration Events
Participate in program/ performance review with Teacher Liaison (min twice a year)
