Early Childhood Educator Wanted - Part-time - Childcare Worker
CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1989 with the aim of helping people overcome the challenges of poverty and attain brighter futures.
CUPS believes that the science of building brains and resiliency is essential to the work of helping adults and families achieve self-sufficiency and needs to be applied in all of their practice. Advocating at a systems level to reduce barriers to services among CUPS target population is also critical to how CUPS works that assists adults and families in Calgary living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events to become self-sufficient.
We have an immediate need for a part-time Child Care Worker within our Family Development Centre.
In this position, Monday through Thursday, (9:00-3:00) the individual will collaborate in the management of the day to day running of the drop in child care area in the Family Centre by ensuring that children are cared for in safe and caring manner, and providing a stimulating environment where the children can learn through play.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
Ensure all play and learning activities are conducted in a safe and healthy atmosphere, by developing activities that consider each childs individual interests and developmental levels
Develop activities that enhance self-esteem and encourage childrens independence, social interaction and creativity
Establish rapport and trust with children and parents/caregivers
Adapt or modify activities to enable children with special needs to participate
Maintain the cleanliness of the equipment in the drop-in and the parent education room.
General and Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate computer records (attendance records), program information (in terms of scheduling & calendars), critical incident reports within established time standards for Family/Parent Education Centres
Work with the Director to support program referrals and registrations
Participate in probationary and annual performance reviews
Attend scheduled staff and supervision meetings
Perform other duties as required
The successful candidate will have at least a Level 2 certification with a minimum of 2 years previous day care experience. This individual will have a strong working knowledge of day care standards, good written and verbal communication skills with children, parents/caregivers, have a familiarity of CUPS programs and be able to effectively collaborate within the community. Knowledge of community resources pertaining to childrens health and education needs is a definite asset.
