FII has an exciting employment opportunity for an Accountant to carry out the day-to-day financial processing and other accounting functions within the company.  The Accountant supports a team approach and demonstrates a great customer service attitude while delivering accurate and reliable financial management services.

This hands-on position includes:  data entry for financial transactions; contract financial administration; general ledger entries; accounts payable; accounts receivable; petty cash management; bank account reconciliation; processing travel claims; and other in-house expense claims and financial reporting. The Accountant supports the reconciliation of financial information received from our subsidiary companies in China and India.  

Skills Required:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year post-secondary education and at least 3 years working in a similar position, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience;
  • Accounting Student (3rd year CPA, CMA) preferred;
  • Experience working with Public Sector Accounting Standards and accounting software.
 Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Ability to prepare financial management reports as requested;
  • Ability to provide contract administration, financial systems and maintenance;
  • Ability to apply relevant business and taxation laws and regulations within the Province of BC and the federal government;
  • Ability to work within a confidential environment and with sometimes stressful deadlines, demonstrating initiative, independent judgment and a high level of problem solving ability with a customer service focus;
  • Superior organizational skills, time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to perform analytical work and implement solutions to accounting issues;
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment, establishing cooperative working relationships while maintaining a high level of independent action;
  • Understanding of project costing and reporting;
  • Excellent computer skills and fully conversant with Excel spreadsheets, Quickbooks or similar accounting software, Word and Outlook.

We are looking for someone with at least three years’ experience working in a similar position or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.  This position would be suitable for someone in his or her 2nd or 3rd year CPA or CMA program.  Preference will be given to those with experience working with Public Sector Accounting Standards and accounting software.
